Cardinal Health Wins National Awards for Excellence in Human Resources Programming

DUBLIN, Ohio, June 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Cardinal Health today announced that its Healthy Lifestyles program, part of the company's overarching benefits strategy to support the well-being and development of its employees, has been recognized nationally for its excellence in employee offerings. Among the awards the company recently received are:

National Business Group on Health (NBGH) Platinum Award – The NBGH Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyle award recognizes organizations with a continuous commitment to resources, innovation and plan design that have supporting programs dedicated to improving employee health and well-being. The Platinum Award is reserved for organizations with mature workplace well-being programs and cultures. Cardinal Health received the organization's Gold Award in 2010 and its Silver Award in 2009.

American Heart Association (AHA) Fit Friendly Award – AHA Start! Fit Friendly companies are recognized for their effort to promote a wellness culture in the workplace. As a Platinum Award winner, Cardinal Health is also being recognized for its efforts to offer employees physical activity options in the workplace and increase healthy eating options at the worksite.

Best HR Ideas for 2011 – Human Resource Executive Magazine publishes an annual listing of winning ideas recognizing HR programs that improve HR function and service delivery in unique ways. The Cardinal Health "Yoga at Your Desk" program and its annual Baby Expo were listed among the "Best HR Ideas for 2011." With the "Yoga at Your Desk" program, the company issued display cubes with illustrations and descriptions of five different stretching exercises that can be done while sitting. Its Baby Expo provided employees, spouses and partners interested in becoming parents with a single place to learn about issues such as the medical and leave implications of becoming new parents and various support tools available to them.
