Consumers nominate neighborhood pharmacies for annual “Favorite Pharmacist” contest
DUBLIN, Ohio, September 18, 2007 — Cardinal Health, a global provider of products and services that improve the safety and productivity of health care, today announced the winners of its first “Favorite Pharmacist” contest.
Nominations were submitted by readers of Sound mind. Sound body., the quarterly consumer magazine that Cardinal Health makes available to the 3,300 retail independent pharmacies that are part of its Leader® network, at no charge.
Sound mind. Sound body. provides seasonal health-care information to consumers, and is one of many tools Cardinal Health offers Leader® members as a means to build meaningful relationships with their customers. In recent issues of Sound mind. Sound body., consumers were invited to submit a 150-word nomination explaining why their pharmacist deserved to be recognized as one of the top five “Favorite Pharmacists” in the United States.
2007 winners of Cardinal Health’s annual “Favorite Pharmacy” competition include:
- Cathy Putnam, Carlson’s Umatilla Drug, Umatilla, Oregon
- Jerry Hill, Lewis Family Drug, Beresford, South Dakota
- Mark Hobbs, Hobbs Pharmacy, Merritt Island, Florida
- Jerry Prusack, Fairway Pharmacy, Montrose, Pennsylvania
- Mark Jamison, Jamison’s Pharmacy, Orangeburg, South Carolina
In October (National Pharmacist Month), each winner will be recognized in the Fall issue of Sound mind. Sound body. magazine, and Cardinal Health will donate $1,000 to the college of pharmacy of each honoree’s choice, in the name of each honoree.
“The heartfelt nominations that we received from grateful pharmacy customers, nationwide, prove that independent pharmacies continue to play an invaluable role in meeting the health-care needs of the communities they serve,” said Steve Lawrence, senior vice president of retail pharmacy and alternate care, Cardinal Health. “It’s a privilege to recognize these ‘Favorite Pharmacists’ for their hard work, expertise and dedication to providing quality patient care.”
