DUBLIN, Ohio, April 9, 2015 —  Attendees at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society 2015 annual conference can learn about maximizing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)-enabled technologies, data and analytics to turn their supply chains into a strategic asset in two sessions that Cardinal Health will sponsor inside the show’s Intelligent Health Pavilion.

In the April 13 presentation in the Intelligent Hospital Pavilion, Carola Endicott, vice president of Services and Operations, Cardinal Health Inventory Management Solutions at Cardinal Health, will join Mike Hughes, vice president of Healthcare Business Solutions from Cook Medical and Al McQueen, director, Supply Chain Logistics and Distribution from BJC Healthcare for “Maximizing RFID in your supply chain: creating an end-to-end solution,” an educational session that will explain how one of the largest nonprofit health care organizations in the United States, a major medical device manufacturer and Cardinal Health came together to create an innovative end-to-end supply chain model for devices and implantables, driving significant efficiency and reduced waste without compromising clinical satisfaction.

On April 14, Endicott will also host, “Knowledge is Power: Turn your supply chain into a strategic asset.” The session will highlight how health care supply chain members can increase efficiencies, reduce waste and better manage inventory with an RFID-enabled analytics platform.

Through its “use case rooms,” the pavilion demonstrates how health care is more connected than ever through advanced technologies such as RFID, auto-ID, Bluetooth low energy, near field communication, real-time locating systems, sensors, wearables and mobile devices.

Cardinal Health will showcase supply chain solutions using RFID and other tracking technologies and their application in the Intensive Care Unit/Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (ICU/NICU), operating room (OR) and supply chain use case rooms to provide insight on how RFID-enabled technology can impact providers and patients. Attendees will see how:

• using RFID, barcoding Bluetooth low energy (BLE) can automate supply chain management.
• the utilization of BLE enables contextual location-based alerting in the supply chain room
• 2-Bin Kanban methodology can help manage low cost medical and surgical supplies and trigger automated replenishment requests in the ICU
• 2-Bin Kanban methodology allows a facility to leverage multiple technologies and workflows to manage a variety of products – all linked to the same data and analytics platform – to ensure efficiency and accuracy in the OR

Cardinal Health will also highlight inventory management solutions, including demonstrations of its Integrated Advanced Analytics platform at kiosk #6656 at the HIMSS annual conference.
