Clinical Excellence, Fiscal Responsibility Focus for Cardinal Health at Orthopaedic Trauma Association Annual Meeting
10/13/2014

DUBLIN, Ohio, Oct. 13, 2014 — Health care providers facing significant cost pressures and product pricing that is outpacing reimbursement have a new choice in orthopedics.

At the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA) 30th Anniversary Annual Meeting in Tampa, Fla., on Oct. 15-18, Cardinal Health will introduce a changing orthopedics model that empowers providers to regain control of their orthopedic purchasing decisions so they can focus on patient care. Cardinal Health Orthopedic Solutions, where clinical excellence meets fiscal responsibility, offers:

• More options for high-quality physician preference items
• Significant savings on product and service pricing
• Customizable clinical and supply chain service options

Dr. Shaden Marzouk, vice president of Clinical Affairs for Cardinal Health, said, “We believe healthcare providers need new, innovative solutions to help them navigate financial challenges brought on by rising costs for technologically mature products amid an atmosphere of declining reimbursements. Our offering of high-quality orthopedic products based on industry-proven and accepted designs means providers can achieve savings without sacrificing or compromising clinical outcomes.”

Cardinal Health Orthopedic Solutions will be featured on the show floor at booth #536. For more information, visit www.cardinalhealth.com/ota.

Cardinal Health also is sponsoring the industry session, “The Practice of Orthopaedic Trauma: How to Survive the Onslaught”, where Roy Sanders, MD, a founding member and president of the Florida Orthopaedic Institute; chief of the Department of Orthopaedics and the director of the Orthopaedic Trauma Service, Tampa General Hospital; editor-in-chief, Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, will discuss the changing paradigms in orthopaedic trauma affecting practice management, employment, payor relationships and other decision-making. The session will convene at 11 a.m. on Oct. 16.

In addition to the industry session, Cardinal Health is sponsoring hands-on skill labs for residents. Presented in six separate, small groups, the modules will have a rapid-fire series of mini-lectures, an extensive open case-based discussion, video demonstrations of techniques, and hands-on skills lab exercises. Modules will cover fundamental principles of fracture care distributed among six topics: articular, diaphyseal, foot & ankle, geriatrics, pediatrics, and polytrauma/pelvis/acetabulum. The labs will be offered daily Oct. 15 - Oct. 17 at 7:30 a.m. and again at 12:45 p.m.
