Dublin, Ohio, Aug. 25, 2014 — The Cardinal Health Foundation announced it will award 28 grants to help non-profit organizations across the country that promote active, healthy lifestyles and encourage health literacy and patient education. In total, the Foundation will award $229,000.
The Cardinal Health Essential to Wellness grant program awarded grants to organizations across the country residing in areas that have a large presence of Cardinal Health employees. This grant program is one of the many ways Cardinal Health continues to play a pivotal role in helping individuals, including employees, live healthier lives.
This year’s Essential to Wellness program called for proposals that addressed promoting healthy, active lifestyles for children, families and the elderly and encouraging health literacy, patient education and engagement. The grants awarded support a variety of initiatives such as providing diabetes supplies to summer camps for children, educating children and their families on healthy lifestyles and supporting child abuse and neglect prevention programs.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with the number of organizations that expressed interest and applied to receive these grants to benefit their communities,” said Dianne Radigan, vice president of Community Relations. “It’s obvious there is a movement to promote healthy lifestyles and Cardinal Health is committed to helping improve health and healthcare.”
Eligible geographic locations included: Little Rock, Arkansas; Lake and McHenry County, Illinois; Kenosha County, Wisconsin; Radcliff, Kentucky and El Paso, Texas.
