Cardinal Health OptiFreight® Logistics Awarded Premier Freight Management Contracts
04/15/2013

DUBLIN, Ohio, April 15, 2013 — The Premier healthcare alliance awarded Cardinal Health two contracts in its freight management category.

Cardinal Health OptiFreight® Logistics, the company’s freight management business, secured a sole source freight management contract with Premier’s ASCEND program, which aims for 80 percent of its approximately 320 hospitals to use ASCEND contracts. The company also secured a national multi-source freight management contract. Both contracts are for three-year terms and are effective on June 1.

“We all know that health care providers are facing increasing pressure to reduce costs, while also asking for greater control and visibility into their spend,” said Steve Inacker, president, Hospital Sales and Services. “We are pleased that Premier ASCEND members are seeing OptiFreight® Logistics as one solution to help reduce their overall cost, and we look forward to working closely with them to help demonstrate the value we can provide.”
