Cardinal Health Recognized for Decade of Commitment to LGBTQ Equality in the Workplace
Cardinal Health earns 100 percent on Human Rights Campaign Foundation's annual scorecard for tenth consecutive year

DUBLIN, Ohio, Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- As an organization that believes cultivating a diverse and inclusive work environment is crucial to corporate success, Cardinal Health earned a perfect score on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) and is among those listed as a Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality.

Members of the Equality Network raise the flag to celebrate Pride Month and reaffirm Cardinal Health’s commitment to valuing diversity and inclusion.

Cardinal Health credits its 10-year perfect score on the CEI to its commitment to a diversity and inclusion strategy, which includes:

  • Training courses focused on enhancing awareness and understanding of employee differences, aligning employee intent and effect in communications, and challenging stereotypes in the workplace;
  • Seven Employee Resource Groups to provide employees a place where likeminded individuals who share interests, passions, and a common bond or background, can come together to offer support and encouragement. This includes the Equality Network, which has a mission to influence Cardinal Health in achieving a fully inclusive culture that embraces equality, creates an engaged workforce, and ensures the development of LGBTQ employees;
  • Basic offerings such as spousal and partner benefits, and philanthropic support of LGBTQ organizations.

The 2018 CEI rated 609 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Cardinal Health efforts in satisfying all the CEI's criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.
