New Clinical Studies Prove that Asking Patients the Right Questions Can Improve Quality, Reduce Costs of Care

DUBLIN, Ohio, June 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- A series of new clinical studies demonstrates the essential role that patient-reported outcomes (PRO) analysis can play in advancing patient-centered care. These studies also illustrate the feasibility of leveraging user-friendly technology solutions to collect PRO data in real-time, at the point of care.

In a recent Q&A blog post on Cardinal Health's online thought leadership site, Essential Insights, Dr. Bruce Feinberg, vice president and chief medical officer of Cardinal Health Specialty Solutions, shares his insights on how PRO analysis can help improve the quality of care while driving down costs. Dr. Feinberg shared this research at the 2015 International Society of Pharmacoeconomic and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) 20th Annual International Meeting.

"The research we highlighted at ISPOR 2015 reinforces a simple truth – if we want to find ways to improve the quality of life and reduce costs of caring for patients with complex diseases, we need to start by talking to patients themselves," says Dr. Feinberg. "Patient reported outcomes data can help physicians determine the most appropriate course of treatment – and address not only the disease, but also patient's needs."
